Wreaths Across America
If you have not yet been contacted by one of the extraordinary Wreaths Across America team members do not despair! There is still plenty of time for you to sponsor a Wreath to ensure the 2025 event is as successful as our inaugural 2024 event. Sponsor forms can be found at the Town Hall outside the Town Clerk's office, at the Community and Senior Center, at the Andover Library, or by sponsoring online through the Wreaths Across America page, www.wreathsacrossamerica.org/CT0170. This link will take you to the Andover, CT sponsorship page where you will be able to select the number of wreaths you would like to sponsor, and then further designate which cemetery you would like them allocated to. As you know, we have three cemeteries in Andover: the Olde Burial Ground, the Congregational Church Cemetery, and the Townsend Cemetery. Our goal is 200 wreaths! As of this writing, 10/6, our total is 61. We have a ways to go, but lots of time left.
The next Volunteer meeting will be in the Town Hall Community room on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, from 4:00-5:00pm. It is not too late to come help us plan and fund raise! There will be snacks!!!!
I am also asking for volunteers to lay the wreaths at our opening ceremony which will be held on Saturday, December 13, 2025 at 12:00 sharp at the Veterans Monument Park. This time is designated by the Wreaths Across America organization and is held at the same time (local) throughout the world. There are eight ceremonial wreaths, one each for: Army, Marines, Navy, Air Force, Space Force, Coast Guard, Merchant Marines, and POW/MIA. If you would like to participate, or have any questions, please contact Susan Camoroda at [email protected] or (703) 472-3209.
On January 22nd, 2024, Andover hosted a Veterans Ceremony for Korean and Vietnam war veterans. This event was attended by over 160 people. Check out photos of the event by clicking here.
Stop by for a visit at the NEW Agent Orange Monument and Veterans Memory Walkway at Veterans Monument Park!
The park is located on the corner of Route 6 and Route 316 (Agent Orange Memorial Hwy) in Andover, CT at 1 Monument Lane.
