Tax Collector

The Town Hall can only accept CASH or CHECK payments. Credit/debit card payments must be made online.

The Tax Collector's office will be CLOSED August 13th-22nd.

There are NO releases of any kind available when the office is closed. Please plan accordingly.

If you are having difficulties with the online payment portal for taxes, please have patience and continue to retry. The system is third party and the Town has no control over it. Every July it is overwhelmed with hundreds of thousands of people all trying to pay their taxes at the same time. The first and last weeks of July tend to be the busiest. You can of course pay in person with cash or check, or mail a check with a USPS postmark of August 1 at the latest to avoid any penalties.

There also appears to be an issue with how escrow bills were mailed out. If you received a real estate tax bill even though your mortgage bank pays it, please call your bank to make sure they are still set up to pay your taxes (this should not have changed). If you did NOT receive a bill and should have, please call or email the tax collector for a copy of your bill, or you can go online to view it. By state statute failure to receive a bill does not release you from any interest or fees that may accumulate from late payment.

It is highly recommended that you do NOT use online bank check pay to pay your taxes. These checks come in without a USPS post mark, therefore if they arrive to the office late, by state statute they must be considered a late payment. If you do use this method PLEASE make sure you update your bill information with every payment you send. We often receive checks with an improper bill number and this can also delay the processing of your payment.
