The Municipal Agent for the Elderly is available to help the seniors of Andover with information, and referrals to local, state, and federal programs that are available to them such as; ConnPACE, Medicare, Medicaid, Food Stamps, heating oil assistance, and renters rebate.
Medicals: Rides to medicals will begin August 3, 2020. If you have appointments and would like senior transportation to take you, please contact Cathy Palazzi at 860-916-6122 to reserve your appointment ride. All seniors welcome and any ADA individual or Veterans who need rides are most welcome. Masks must be worn in the van and if you have a caregiver that person may come with you.
Shopping: Andover seniors will begin their shopping trips to Willimantic on Tuesday, July 28th. Seniors will wear masks and gloves for protections. If you have not been called and want to go shopping that Tuesday, please call Roberta Dougherty at 860-742-7305 x5, our Municipal Agent and she will notify me so the bus can pick you up. There will not be any secondary stops allowed for our senior’s safety at this time.
Food Share/Food Pantry: Our Municipal Agent will continue to call each senior on Mondays as she has been doing to see if they would like food share or food pantry delivered to their home. We greatly appreciate the help she has been to our seniors these past months.
Luncheon: First senior luncheon will be held on Friday, July 31st at town hall outside at noon. Menu will be pizza, chips, soda or bottled water and ice cream for dessert. If you would like to attend and have not been called please phone Palazzi at 860-916-6122. The price of the luncheon remains at $5.00. We will practice social distancing and masks must be worn. The bus will be available for transportation. When you call Palazzi let her know you will need a ride.
No other senior activities will start until at least September. That includes: Movies, exercise programs, drumming classes, and Young At Heart Meetings. No trips will be available until we have approval from our Town Administrator, Eric Anderson and our Board of Selectmen (BOS).
