General Voting Information

Voter Registration Requirements

Any citizen 18 years of age may register to vote and enroll in a party at the Registrars of Voters Office in Town Hall. All voters must be 18 years of age on Election Day in order to vote. Voters turning age 18 by Election Day may also vote in a primary for that election. In the State of Connecticut, electors registered as Unaffiliated cannot vote in a party primary election.

EDR or Election Day Registration is used for all State and Federal Elections, as well as, Municipal Elections. This means a person living in the town may appear on voting day, register to vote and vote that same day.

Online Registration has become extremely popular in Andover among younger voters and first time voters. This saves a great deal of time for a person to be in the comfort of their own home and register online to vote. When they appear at the polls their name is already listed on the active voter list.
