AFoL Summer Basketpalooza!
Between now and August 1st, you are encouraged to visit the library and participate in the Andover Friends of the Library (AFoL) Summer edition of Basketpalooza! As the Friends did not hold a Goods & Services Auction this Spring -- normally, their best fundraiser of the year -- this event was added to fill in some gaps. Summer Basketpalooza is a scaled-down version of the Basketpalooza event held between Thanksgiving and Christmas, and the prizes are just as good! For just $10, you will receive a sheet of 26 tickets which you can use to take a chance on winning one of EIGHT great baskets available this summer. Stop by during the library's open hours and purchase some tickets to support this fundraiser between now and Saturday, August 1st. Winners' names will be drawn on Monday, August 3rd @ 5PM, but remember -- you can't win if you don't participate!! And we sure would be happy to have your support! THANK YOU!!!
The library is open Monday through Thursday, 10AM-7PM and Saturday, 10AM-2PM.
Here's some info on the baskets:
Basket #1 : Gift Cards Galore! – Seven(!) gift cards to several area attractions including Hebron Mini Golf, the Flour Girl, and more, including a $40 gift card donated by Big Y of Mansfield. Plus, there are 3 $1 Connecticut Lottery scratch-off tickets.
Basket #2 : Owls! – “Hoo” is a big fan of these majestic birds? We’ve got a basket full of all-owl items, including salt & pepper shakers, figurines, plaques, banners, ornaments.
Basket #3 : 7 Jars of Homemade Jams PLUS a $15 Big Y Gift Card – 7 jars of assorted homemade jams donated by Janet Platz of Andover. Flavors include strawberry margarita jam, blueberry marmalade peach jam, low sugar peach black raspberry jam, and 4 other fine summer flavors. Plus, there is a donated $15 Big Y gift card.
Basket #4 : Christmas in July! – Get ready for the season early with a selection of Christmas items, including Christmas banners, wrapping paper, bows, books, ornaments, and more.
Basket #5 : For the Kids – Toys for kids including Play-Doh, bubbles, coloring books, and a chirping parrot.
Basket #6 : Wine Me Up! – 3 bottles of wine including Slow Press red wine, The Beachhouse white wine, and Perfect Day rose. [Age 21+, please].
Basket #7 : Mermaids! – For the fans of these mythical half-human/half-sea creatures, we’ve got a basketful of mermaids of all shapes and sizes, including figurines, signs, and more.
Basket #8 : For the Loyal Red Sox Fan – Though the Sox didn't start off having such a great 2026 season, hope springs eternal! We’ve got a whole selection of wonderful Red Sox goodies that are perfect for the loyal Red Sox fan! Among them: an authenticated, signed baseball by pitcher Garrett Whitlock donated by the Boston Red Sox, plus 4-packs of tickets to use this summer for the Worcester Red Sox (AAA) and the Portland [Maine] Sea Dogs (AA). There are plenty of other Red Sox goodies stuffed in this basket, too, including a wall clock, a glass paperweight, 1988 Topps baseball cards team set, key chain, stuffed bear, and a whole bunch more!
