Road Closure Notice – Long Hill Road

For all those affected by the Long Hill Rd. detour:

Due to extended emergency response times while the road is closed, please provide dispatchers with all pertinent information when calling 911. This includes any relevant medical details and situational information.

Providing accurate and complete information will help ensure the appropriate level of response urgency.

Fire ChiefBeginning May 13, 2026, Long Hill Road will be closed at the Hop River to allow for a bridge replacement project. This closure is expected to remain in effect through approximately December 2026.

Motorists are advised to plan alternate routes and allow for additional travel time. Please follow posted detours and exercise caution when traveling in the area.

We appreciate your patience and cooperation during this necessary infrastructure improvement.

 

From Coventry:

Status update for the Bunker Hill Bridge Replacement Project Town of Coventry:

The Contract was executed on April 20, 2026, and the project’s Notice to Proceed will be issued for August 2, 2026 (start date).

This Spring trees were cleared and recently all utilities were relocated to make room to install the new bridge.  The procurement and fabrication time for the structural components (concrete box culvert), for the new bridge has been initiated.  The required project detour of this section of Bunker Hill Road is on schedule to begin on August 3, 2026, allowing for the eventual opening of the bridge to vehicular traffic by the end of November 2026.  See attached detour plan. Detour signs and message boards will be installed 2 weeks prior to the road closure.  Fire, Police, Emergency Services, School Bus Companies, Town of Andover, and the Town of Coventry’s (Staff Boards and Commission) are being notified.  Please notify your staff. Should you know of other entities that should be informed of the closure please let me know.
